Sheldon Oliver Watts PhD, MPH
Who I Am
Sheldon Oliver Watts is the National Director of the Council on Black Health (CBH), based at Drexel University, where he works on productivity, growth, marketing, impact, and organizational stability and the integration of these issues into school and university environments.
His academic and professional efforts to date have focused on circumstances that receive little political and research attention, while creating actionable opportunities to improve the health of vulnerable populations from varying perspectives. His energy, broad skillset, and passion for improving the lives of underserved and marginalized populations underscores CBH’s core mission, “to develop and promote solutions that achieve healthy Black communities.” His work with CBH includes creating and executing a marketing strategy that establishes CBH as the “go-to” center of excellence for research and action regarding healthy Black communities; leading externally funded action research to expand and consolidate CBH’s capacity and reputation for interorganizational, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary research and dissemination strategies; and assuring deliverables to funders, preparing project reports, and otherwise representing CBH externally. Prior to joining CBH, Dr. Watts was Public Health Faculty and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Social and Behavioral Science at Temple University.
